Dear Joshy,

This is the final week of 11.  On Wednesday you turn twelve and begin the downhill slide to teen-hood.

In 11 years, you've:

Been to 18 different states, as far east as New York and as far west as California.

Stood on the rim of the Grand Canyon.

Taken a dip in the Colorado River, Rio Grande River, 4 out of 5 Great Lakes (Huron, Superior, Michigan, Eerie), and the Pacific Ocean.

Stayed in a hotel at the top of Niagra Falls.

Visited mountain peaks that top 10,000(+).

Lost 2 grandparents and 2 great-grandparents.

Moved 3 times.

Learned to read, write, tie your shoes, walk, talk, ride a bike and do your own laundry.  (We're working on the cooking thing, too.)

Welcomed a baby sister and five cousins.

Been baptized.

Had your tonsils out.

Broken your pinky.

Been to a major league baseball game and pro basketball game.

And that's just the start.  I'm proud of you.  I can't wait to see what's next (but I wouldn't mind if you slow down just a tad.)

Love,

Mom

And amazingly survived being thrown in the snow by his dad. It should be noted that he did tell his family that he did not believe his dad could throw him in the snow, meaning that dad could only redeem himself by showing everyone he could indeed cast Joshy-Boshy into the deep and cold snow.

I hope you know how much he treasures you.

Also - did you know my Isaac has the same birthday?!

No I didn't know! That's funny and it makes me happy in a weird, irrational way!
